  • Emerging Leader Custom Program For Rayonier

    In today’s fast-paced, competitive, business environment, successful organizations must provide their future leaders with learning experiences designed to strengthen their skills and abilities as they face on-going organizational and personal challenges.

    Using a wide variety of learning methods, including group discussion, personal assessment and feedback, team exercises, and a unique theatre presentation technique, the Leadership Development Institute of the University of Florida has provided our organization with a valuable leadership program for our emerging leaders. Through a collaborative effort, this program was designed to meet our specific organizational needs, particularly focusing on participants’ broadening roles and responsibilities and an understanding of their impact on the organization.

    The Leadership Development Institute faculty and facilitators have provided a seamless transition from our strategic vision to successful program reality, with positive participant feedback and results. In addition, they not only provided the instruction for the program, but they also provided support throughout the week to manage the facility logistics as well.

  • Emerging Leader Open Enrollment Program with Kal Tire Participants

    Our employees are still glowing from the session [Emerging Leader Certificate Program]. The session comes up in conversations several times each day! Not only did the session help them become more cohesive as a team, but also each one is sponsoring an initiative for all of Information Systems (IS) based on the learnings of the workshop. I think a very large benefit for us was that the emerging IS leaders all went as a group.

  • Custom Programs and Strategy For Central Maintenance & Welding

    We selected the Leadership Development Institute of the University of Florida from three finalists. The scope of the project was two-fold: First, we wanted intensive training for our ninety supervisors. Our people were hard workers but had minimal experience in managing other employees. Second, we needed help in strategic planning and upgrading the overall skills of our management team.

    We could not be more pleased with the results we are receiving from the dynamic programs that were designed and executed by the University of Florida’s LDI. There has been an amazing difference in the performance of our supervisors. Their new approaches to project management and team building alone have helped grow our business and make it more profitable.

    In addition, LDI provided a strategy management consultant that conducted our strategic planning sessions and has been coaching our management team for over a year with excellent results. Financially, we jumped 41% in gross revenues last fiscal year with an 8% increase in profitability. More importantly, I am seeing a stronger management team in all aspects of performance, especially knocking down silos and having all key leaders accept responsibility for total company success. And I admit that my effectiveness as President has increased dramatically from LDI’s direction and pull no punches approach. We look forward to many years of partnering with this great organization.

  • Strategy Session for Tampa Bay Partnership

    Over several months, the staff of UF Leadership Development Institute worked with the Tampa Bay Partnership to align the organization's strategic plan with investor and leadership direction. The process involved in-depth interviews with stakeholders, a board and community strategic planning session and follow-up consultation to assist with execution. The Institute staff helped us immensely with their facilitation skills and strategic planning expertise. We would highly recommend them to any organization, public or private, seeking to achieve alignment and focus in their organization.

  • Custom Program for Florida Department of Environmental Protection

    I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for working with us to put together such a wonderful class. Normally, I (and the rest of my colleagues) would consider three days of training torturous, but the way that The Leadership Institute weaved levity in with an important message was truly impressive. This is the kind of training that I feel lucky to have received early enough in my leadership career to help me develop habits that will enable my employees to succeed. The course enabled me to better understand my strengths and weaknesses and how to understand how others communicate. There was never a dull moment and the theater troupe added an extra exciting element that facilitated learning. The instructors also did a masterful job in facilitation of the training experience.

    I especially commend you for taking the time to better understand our agency, mission, history, and talents of our managers. Without your attention to detail and participation, this training could not have been nearly as successful as it was. You truly captured the spirit of our organization and molded the training to perfectly fit our needs. I hope that the Department of Environmental Protection will utilize the Leadership Institute to develop further customized training for all of its managers, the results for the citizens of Florida would be well worth the investment.

  • Understanding and Facilitating Change for St. Johns River Water Management District

    I thoroughly enjoyed the class "Understanding and Facilitating Change." The class leader came prepared and provided numerous examples and techniques on the subject. In all of the classes I have taken through the University of Florida's Leadership Development Institute, the best part has been having the opportunity to use our real world work experiences and issues to reinforce the techniques taught in the classes. This has allowed me to immediately put the information to use as a part of my normal routine.
